The GNM Nursing entrance tests and admission procedures for 2021 are organized by several State Nursing Councils in collaboration with State Health Departments. GNM Nursing: Admission Process

Admission to the GNM Nursing programme is mostly based on the results of several state-level entrance tests. Due to the impact of Coronavirus, the GNM Admission Process in 2020 and 2021 may be impacted.

To sit for the GNM Nursing examinations, candidates must have passed Class 12. GNM admittance is not available to students who are still in the 12 grades. Students must complete an application form and pay the application cost. They will be awarded direct admission if their score matches the requirement of the college to which they are applying.

GNM Nursing Eligibility Criteria

  • Should have passed class 12 with English and must have secured a minimum of 40 per cent in aggregate in the qualifying examination and English separately from any recognized board State Open School recognized Candidates are also eligible for State Open School recognized by the State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government. However, candidates with a science stream will be preferred.
  • Should have passed class 12 with English securing 40 per cent in aggregate in vocational ANM course from any Institute recognized by the Indian Nursing council
  • Should have passed class 12 with English securing 40 per cent in aggregate in Vocational Stream-Health care Science from a recognized CBSE board/Centre
  • Should be a Registered ANM with a qualifying mark

Types of GNM Nursing

Basic, Post Basic, and Distance GNM are the three most popular versions of GNM in India.

Basic Nursing

The basic GNM is the most prevalent form of GNM. It is a bachelor's degree programme that prepares students to gain nursing skills and knowledge to provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with a variety of disorders. The course is designed to produce general nurses who can work effectively as part of a health team in a variety of hospitals and other organizations.

Candidates must pass class 12 examinations with a scientific stream with a minimum of 40% aggregate marks to be eligible for the degree, which lasts three years. Candidates should also be between the ages of 17 and 35. Furthermore, every student must be medically fit.

Post-Basic GNM
